Treasury on the Plaza Wedding Photography in St. Augustine, Florida

Treasury on the Plaza is easily one of my favorite wedding venues in St. Augustine, Florida. Located right on the historic downtown square, it’s a beautiful former bank building with elegant architecture, a gorgeous ceremony and reception space, and an experienced staff that really knows how to put on a wedding.

One of the things I love most about photographing weddings at Treasury on the Plaza is the combination of the beautiful interior and the incredible location. The ceremony space is stunning, and the staff does an amazing job transforming it into an elegant reception room afterward. You’re also right in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, which means some of my favorite portrait locations are just a short walk away.

My Favorite Wedding Photo Locations at Treasury on the Plaza

One of my favorite places to take wedding portraits is the historic square right outside the venue. There are some really beautiful trees, and the surrounding architecture gives us plenty of options for photographs. The square is usually busy with tourists and people walking around, but that’s something I’m used to working with. With a little patience and thoughtful framing, we can usually find ways to keep the crowds out of the background and still capture beautiful portraits.

The Bridge of Lions is also nearby, and I love walking down toward the waterfront for photographs. It gives us a completely different backdrop from the square, with views of the water and the historic bridge. If you’re up for a short drive, the Castillo de San Marcos is another great option for portraits. Between the square, waterfront, and surrounding historic architecture, there’s no shortage of beautiful places to take wedding photos near Treasury on the Plaza.

The Ceremony and Reception at Treasury on the Plaza

The ceremony space inside Treasury on the Plaza is really beautiful, and one of the things that impresses me most is how efficiently the staff transforms the room for the reception. It’s a pretty incredible change, and the space looks elegant for both parts of the wedding day.

One feature I especially love is the venue’s optional lighting package. During the first dance, the lighting can create the appearance of twinkling stars all around the room. It’s a really beautiful effect and makes for some incredible first dance photographs. If you’re planning a wedding here, I’d definitely recommend asking the venue about that option.

What to Know About Downtown St. Augustine Weddings

One of the biggest things to plan for when getting married at Treasury on the Plaza is parking. The venue doesn’t have dedicated guest parking, and downtown St. Augustine can be busy, especially during popular wedding seasons. Guests may need to park elsewhere downtown and walk to the venue, so it’s important to communicate those details ahead of time.

There’s also likely to be some walking involved during your portrait session if you want to take advantage of the nearby square, waterfront, and historic streets. I’d recommend bringing comfortable shoes or flats that you can switch into between photo locations. It’s a simple thing that can make exploring downtown much more enjoyable.

Tips for Planning Your Treasury on the Plaza Wedding

My biggest advice is to trust your vendors. St. Augustine wedding professionals know the area inside and out, and they’re familiar with the challenges that come with hosting weddings in such a busy historic downtown. Between parking, tourists, and coordinating the timeline, having experienced vendors makes a big difference.

The staff at Treasury on the Plaza is excellent. They’re experienced, efficient, and really know what they’re doing. I’d encourage couples to lean on them throughout the planning process and trust their recommendations for how the wedding day should flow. The same goes for your photographer, especially when planning time for portraits around downtown.
