Let's talk about your photos
Your wedding day is going to be full of moments you expect, along with a whole lot of moments you don’t. The big ones are important, of course. Walking down the aisle, exchanging vows, your first dance. But some of my favorite photographs are the little things happening in between. Your grandparents laughing together, your nieces and nephews doing something ridiculous, or a moment between friends that you didn’t even realize happened. That’s what I love about wedding photography. Years from now, I want you to look through your photos and remember not just what everything looked like, but what it felt like to be there.
My approach is to document your wedding day without getting in the way. I want to tell your story without becoming part of it. That means paying attention to what’s happening around me, anticipating moments, and letting the day unfold naturally whenever possible.
I love candid photography. One of my favorite things to hear from a couple after they receive their gallery is, “Oh my gosh, I didn’t even realize that happened!” Those unexpected photographs often become some of the most meaningful because they capture something real. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to leave you standing in front of the camera wondering what to do with your hands.
Most of my couples tell me they feel awkward having their picture taken. I completely understand. I feel awkward in front of the camera too, which is probably one reason I prefer being behind it. When it’s time for portraits, I give plenty of direction. We’ll start with some tried-and-true poses and build from there as I get to know you. If you’re a fun, playful couple, we might try something a little silly. If you’re more reserved or prefer a classic look, we’ll lean into that instead. The goal isn’t to make every couple look the same. It’s to create photographs that feel comfortable, natural, and true to who you are.
I like to be involved in the planning process because I know how much easier the wedding day can be when we’ve thought through the details ahead of time. When you first inquire, I’ll let you know whether I’m available and send you information about my wedding photography collections. I’ll also ask questions to learn more about your plans and what matters most to you.
Once you book, we’ll start with an initial questionnaire to gather the basics. As your wedding gets closer, I’ll send a much more detailed questionnaire covering everything from family portrait combinations to the moments you’re especially excited about, your preferences, and the things that will or won’t be happening during your day. I bring that information with me to the wedding so I can reference it when needed. I don’t want to be surprised by something important that we could have planned for in advance.
I’ll also work with you in the months leading up to the wedding to help build a realistic photography timeline. Your wedding coordinator should absolutely be part of that conversation too. When everyone is working from the same plan, we can spend less time figuring things out on the wedding day and more time enjoying it.
I offer three main wedding photography collections, with coverage hours being the biggest difference between them. The higher collections also include additional benefits, such as a second photographer, an engagement session, and, in my top collection, an anniversary session.
Every collection includes an online gallery that’s available for at least one year, along with print rights to your photographs. I also don’t set an arbitrary limit on how many images you’ll receive. As a general guideline, couples can expect around 100 photographs per hour of coverage, although the actual number varies depending on what happens throughout the day.
Wedding photography collections begin at $3,899. I’d be happy to walk you through the options and help you decide which collection makes the most sense for your plans.
One piece of advice I give engaged couples is to ask photographers to show you complete wedding galleries. It’s easy to put together a beautiful collection of highlights for a website or social media. But photographing an entire wedding day is a different challenge. You want to see how a photographer handles everything, from getting ready through the reception, including less-than-perfect conditions. If possible, ask to see a wedding where something challenging happened, like rain. A complete gallery can tell you a lot about a photographer’s consistency and ability to adapt.
I’d also encourage you to start working on your photography timeline early. Talk through it with your photographer, then make sure your coordinator is involved and can help keep everything on track. A thoughtful timeline gives us room to capture the photographs that matter without making the day feel rushed.
I love working with couples who value memories, appreciate timeless photographs, and aren’t afraid to have a little fun. You don’t have to be completely comfortable in front of the camera, and you definitely don’t have to take yourselves too seriously. Beautiful portraits are important, and we’ll absolutely make time for them. But I also want you to have photographs of the people you love and the moments you might otherwise forget.
Because years from now, those little moments can mean just as much as the big ones.
If you’re planning a wedding in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, or anywhere around Northeast Florida, I’d love to hear your story and learn what you’re planning.
